Vision & Mission

Where We Are Going

To be a trusted, innovation-driven leader in civil and structural engineering — growing our agricultural engineering, planning and development, and risk management capability — delivering advanced, resilient and future-ready infrastructure that creates lasting value for people and communities.

How We Operate

We deliver expert civil, structural and agricultural engineering, planning and development, and risk management through innovative thinking, advanced tools and a driven, accountable team. We invest in our people, develop the next generation of engineers and leaders, and design with the communities who live with our work.

Pro Bono & Community Work

School Infrastructure

For Lilyfontein School in East London, Newground Projects delivered an adventure climbing wall pro bono: a 12 m free-standing structural steel structure with concrete footings and timber climbing surfaces. We provided the structural engineering design, tender documentation and bill of quantities, contract administration and construction monitoring, and acted as Principal Agent through to practical completion in August 2023.

Interns & Upcoming Engineers and Leaders

We grow the next generation through internships, and hands-on mentorship. Candidate engineers and young professionals work beside our registered engineers on live projects — from design and drawings to site supervision, QA/QC and client engagement — building the skills to lead.

Community and business Advocacy

Newground Projects is a member of the Border-Kei Chamber of Business. Through the Chamber's Infrastructure Committee we contribute technical input on regional infrastructure, procurement and service delivery, working with business and government to strengthen the Border-Kei economy.

Koinonia Recovery Centre – Dining Hall (Nahoon Dam, East London)

Koinonia Recovery Centre is a registered non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre near Mdantsane. It needed a multi-purpose dining hall and kitchen to serve up to 84 residents. Newground did the civil and structural engineering at a reduced charitable fee. The work covered the design of the columns and bases, precast beams, stairs and suspended slabs. We also did site inspections of the excavations, reinforcement and shuttering, and signed the structure off. The 400 m² hall has a 110 m² deck. It was built from KwikLin precast beams and pilasters with Nutec cladding on a timber frame, using local labour. It opened in September 2024. The project used TFSD precast beams, columns and floor elements made less than 500 m from site.
